Obituary John Calvin (J.C.) Coleman, age 84, of Murphy,NC passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his home.

He was a native of Polk County, TN and the son of the late Calvin Luther and Lula Edna Runion Coleman Womble. He was a retired carpenter with Union-Local 74 in Chattanooga, TN. and built homes in Mecklenburg, Gaston, Catawba and Cherokee Counties. He was a US World War II Navy Veteran serving in the European and Pacific Theater and the Invasion on France with Amphibian Forces, and after the service worked on underground secret quarters of the Pentagon. John was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church where he loved going and taught Sunday School Classes for all ages since 1963. He loved the Lord, enjoyed coon hunting, Tennessee football, the Atlanta Braves and working. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Infant Blanche Elaine Coleman and Myra Jean Newsome; two brothers, Spencer Coleman and Dick Womble; and two sisters, Deryl Nelson and Martha Sisson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lola Jean Jones Coleman; two sons, Dwight G. Coleman of Spruce Pine, NC and Reggie Coleman and his wife, Connie of Lawrenceburg, TN.; two brothers, Joe Womble of Atlanta, GA and Edwin Womble of California; one sister, Doris E. Gibson of Ducktown, TN., five grandchildren, Joy McMannis, Caitlin Koch and her husband, Brian Koch; Zach Coleman and Logan Coleman; and one great grandchild Landon Koch; and eleven nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Randy Johnson and Kenny Taylor will officiate. The Jones Trio will provide the music. Burial will be in the Swanson Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post, #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73, Hayesville American Legion Post 532 and Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers will be Johnny Martin, Loye Reid, Paul Jones, Carroll Weaver, Joe Womble and Steve Sisson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC and again on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 12:45 to 1:45 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
