Sanders Johnson, 75, of 1165 Harwood Drive, Mansfield, Ohio, formerly of Swords Creek and Tazewell, Va, a retired miner, died late Monday evening in a Mount Gilead, Ohio hospital after a long illness.

Born in Swords Creek, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Hattie Robinette Johnson. He was a former employee of the Jewell Ridge Coal Corp. and the Raven-Red Ash Coal Co. He had resided in Mansfield since 1954 was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter, No. 47 there.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ed (Elise) Peters of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Bill (Gaynell) Bowling of North Tazewell, Va., Mrs. Emma Jean Ison and Mrs. Maxine Brumenshenkel, both of Mansfield, and Mrs. Arthur (Judy) Stewart of Johnsville, Ohio; three sons, Paul and Larry Johnson, both of Mansfield, and Harold Johnson of Statesville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Jettie M. Keen of Mansfield and Mrs. Alta Ault of Kent, Ohio; thirty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Grat Horton officiating. Burial will be in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home today after 12 p.m.
