John J. Collins served as a Private during the U.S. War of 1812 with Capt. Samuel Bigham's Company, Marion SC. His 3rd wife, Francis C. Matilda Davis Collins filed for a pension (WC-31562 pension file). He was awarded 80 acres of bounty land in the Ariel section. After the War of 1812 he was a farmer in the Ariel section of Marion, SC. After the WBTS he was devastated by losing all of his sons but one (E.C. Collins). His grandson, Ben. F. Collins (son of John E.) stayed on with him until his death in 1871. E.C Collins moved to Bradford Co. Fla. after his father passed. Grandson, Ben stayed at the home with his step-grandmother, Francis C.M. Davis Collins.

2. Sophia Collins 1819-died after 1880 (Married Neil McRae)
3. Serg. John E. Collins 1824-1864 (mortally wounded in Battle of Mule Shoe, Va. Buried at Hollywood Cem., Richmond City, Va., married Ann Catherine Davis 1826-1906, buried at Zion Meth. Horry, SC. John E. Collins has an "in memory of" monument at Zion also).

4. Serg. Edward C. Collins, b. 5-15-1830 d. 1910 (Married 1. Mary Legette 2. Mattie Palmer). The only survivor of WBTS.
5. Pvt. Joel Burt Collins, 1832- died 6-16-1864 (Died in WBTS on Darbytown Rd., VA)
6. Corp. David F. Collins 1834 (Died of disease in WBTS)
7. Zilphia Collins 1842-1919 (Married Pvt. Solomon M. Williamson & he's buried at Blanford Church Cem., Virginia. He died in the Battle of Swift Creek, VA WBTS, May 9, 1864). She later married Enoch G. Smith of Horry, SC. Zilphia is buried at Sandy Plain UMC Cemetery in Horry, SC.
