Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Hester Abercrombie Quick, 93 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Covington County Hospital in Collins.
Dr. Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Janice Shanks and Mr. George Puckett. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Mrs. Quick was born on December 5, 1927 at Kelly Creek in Seminary, Mississippi to I.W. “Ike” and Amanda Sanford Abercrombie. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Quick retired from the City of Collins as city clerk after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins where she was active in the Ladies Outreach Sunday School Class and the Joy Club until her health declined
She was preceded in death by her parents, I.W. "Ike" Abercrombie and Amanda Sanford Abercrombie; her husband, Henry Davis Quick; one son, Carl Quick; two sisters, Bernice Abercrombie Jones and Christine Abercrombie Rogers; and three brothers, Hubert Abercrombie, Tom Abercrombie, and Jimmy Abercrombie.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Quick, and his wife, Annabel of Anaheim Hills, California, and Charles Quick, and his wife, Lori of Clinton; two daughters, Sandy Quick Chambers, and her husband, David of Whitesburg, Georgia, and Shirley Quick Magee, and her husband David of Clinton; a daughter-in-law, Julie H. Quick of Monterey, Tennessee; one brother, Hardy Abercrombie, and his wife, Katherine of Seminary; one sister, Rachel Abercrombie Knight of Collins; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Collins, P.O. Box 997, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
