STROKE FATAL TO W.E. ALFORD
GAS FIXTURE DEALER SUCCUMBS TO PARALYSIS

William E. Alford, for the last 20 years in the gas and electric fixture business in this city, died last night at his home, 325 North Fulton avenue, following an illness of one week. Mr. Alford was stricken with paralysis last Saturday in his place of business, and his condition had been precarious ever since.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah E. Alford; a daughter, Mrs. Albert G. Dew; two sons, Edward T.W. and W. Stanley Alford; three brothers, the Rev. S.M. Alford and James H. and Harry C. Alford; two sisters, Mrs. W.T. Matthews and Mrs. W.W. Dunbracco [Ella, Mrs. William W.], and three grandchildren.

Mr. Alford was a member of Harlem Park Methodist Episcopal Church, on the board of directors of the Home for the Aged of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and a member of the Royal Arcanum, the Heptasophs, the Patriotic Sons of America and the National Union. Before engaging in business for himself he was connected for 30 years with the old firm of C.Y. Davidson of this city.
