Martha Ann came to America with her fiance, Peter James Matthews from Cornwall, England. She was married in Marinette, Wisconsin on Nov 03, 1888. She then settled in Ironwood County, Michigan where she raised her two children. She then moved to Orange County California with her sister, nieces, and her family where they were settled for many generations.

MATTHEWS—Mrs. Martha A. Matthews, aged 54 years, East Seventeenth street, July 19, 1921. Funeral services will be held next Friday at 2 p.m. from Smith and Tuthill's chapel. Services at the grave will be in charge of Sycamore Rebekah lodge. Deceased was the wife of P.J. Matthews.
