J.B. Stiwinter. 91, died at Fidelia Eckerd Living Center September 21, 2010. A native of Jackson County he was the son of the late Marion and Minnie Evitt Stiwinter. He was a WWII US Army veteran and a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Leila Buchanan Stiwinter in 2005; a son Jonathan "Bugs" Stiwinter, one grandchild, four sisters, Imojean Hooper, Bonnie Sherrill, Connie Stewart, Sylvia Rogers, two brothers, L.C. Stiwinter and Marion J Odell Stiwinter

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley S. Rice and husband, Earl of Pickens, SC; three sons, Alvin Stiwinter and wife Carol of Easley, SC, Lewis Stiwinter and wife, Elaine of Cashiers, NC, J.R. Stiwinter and wife Donna of Cullowhee, NC; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 24, 2010 at Yellow Mountain Baptist church of which he was a member and served as a deacon, with Reverend Keith Ashe, Reverend Johnny Norris and Reverend Eddie Stillwell will officiating. Burial will follow at Stewart Cemetery with military rites conducted by William E. Dillard American Legion Post 104, Sylva and Jimmy Dillard VFW Post 10685, Glenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the church.
