Services for Mrs. Claude (Pauline) Groves, 79, were conducted Wednesday, December 11, 1991 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Pogue and Rev. Johnny Tims officiating. Mrs. Groves died Monday, December 9, 1991 in Childress.

Pallbearers were Kenny Barton, Roy Stephens, Dickie Johnson, Jon Johnson, Perry Foster and Gano Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were James Larson, Chris Hubbard, E.W. Clement, Benson Long, Bill Estes, Gary Starkey, Don Sweat and Jim Coley.

Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Groves was born February 24, 1912 at the home of her parents, Alfred and Josephine Barton, Sr. in Motley County. She grew up in Motley County and graduated from Matador High School.

She and Claude Groves were married January 29, 1933 in Clovis, New Mexico.

The couple came to Wellington in 1943 from Childress. She was active in WMU and played the violin for church services for 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Joline Wilson of Wellington; 2 sons, Barton Groves of Dallas and David Groves of Stone Mountain, Georgia; one brother, Alfred Barton, Jr. of Matador and seven grandchildren, Curtis Groves, Dallas; Jennifer Groves, New York City, New York; Woody Wilson, Wellington; Alfred Groves, Michael Groves, Jonathan Groves and Jeffery Groves all of Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Claude Groves preceded her in death February 4, 1991.
