ALLEN
Died, at the family residence in this city, yesterday (Sunday) morning at 11:30 o'clock, Mrs. Mary Bell Allen, in the seventieth year of her age.
Mrs. Allen had been in declining health for several years, and her relatives and friends, though shocked and grieved beyond measure because of her demise, were forced to anticipate- the fatal termination of her illness.
Mrs. Allen was the eldest daughter of the late Hon. Joshua F. Bell and the widow of the late Rev. James L. Allen. She was a woman of rare intellectual attainments, and also noted for her generosity and charitable deeds. She was the beloved Principal of Bell Seminary, whose many graduates here and elsewhere will learn of her death with sincere sorrow, and they, together with the people of this whole community, will tender to her sister, brother and other loved ones their heart-felt condolences in the hour of their affliction and grief.
The funeral services will be conducted on tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, by Drs. E. M. Green and J. Q. A. McDowell, and the interment will follow in Bellevue cemetery.
