He was born at Ft. Frederick, MD.

Revolutionary War Service: While living in Westmoreland County, PA, he enlisted about 1776. Served as a Private with the PA troups under Capt Joseph Erwin, Mathew Jack and Jeremiah Lochney. Served as an Indian spy and ranger in the Continental Militia. In 1780 he went to Lexington, KY as an Indian spy and served under General Clark in the Chilicothe and Pickaway expeditions. He was wounded in the right foot and leg. He received a pension while living in Pennsylvania.

He married Isabella Patty, who was born in Ireland, in 1779 at her father's house near Hannastown, Westmoreland County, PA.

He moved to Kentucky about 1786 and died before 9 Sept 1816 at his home on the Kentucky River near the mouth of the Eagle Creek in Gallatin County, now Carroll County, Kentucky.

His wife Isabella, applied for a widow's pension (#W8879) in 1837 while living in Henry County, Kentucky. She died August 1, 1843 in Carroll County, KY.
