OBITUARY :
CHARLES RAY ADAMS, SR., died Sunday morning at the Waynesboro Hospital of a cerebral hemmorhage. He suffered a stroke last December but returned to his work at Letterkenny Ordnance Depot in the summer. He had been assistant superintendent of parts identification at Letterkenny for nine years.
He was born at Greencastle Route 2, son of William T. and Catherine (Brumbaugh) Adams. He lived his early life near Leitersburg but at the time of his induction into the armed forces during World War I he lived at Waynesboro Route 3. He served overseas and was a prisoner of war for several months.
He resided in Waynesboro for several years where he operated an automobile electric repair shop for 22 years before going to work at Letterkenny.
He was a charter member of the VFW post in Waynesboro and served two terms as a commander of the post. He was a member of the First U. B. Church at Middleburg.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace (Noll) Adams and six children, also eight grandchildren; half-sister, Mrs. Robert Schamel, Hagerstown; two sisters and one half-brother; two other half-sisters.
Funeral services at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Grove funeral home in Waynesboro with Rev. Paul Martin, assisted by Rev. Donald Harbaugh, officiating. Interment will be in Burns Hill Cemetery. Friends may call this evening from 7 until9 o'clock at the funeral home. The VFW will conduct graveside services.
