Jacob Johnson, a resident of North Judson since 1921, the year the family moved here from Jasper County, passed away in his home Wednesday evening at 6:20 o'clock. He had been confined to his home the past two weeks of a heart condition. Mr. Johnson was well known thruout [throughout] this area. He operated the Johnson gravel pit, was town assessor for a number of years, and was a retired road building contractor. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and Modern Woodmen of America. Born in White County, near Monticello, Ind., March 1, 1886, Mr. Johnson had reached the age of 74 years. In 1905 at Crown Point, Ind., he married Bessie Brooke, who preceded him in death, August 16, 1959. Five daughters survive. They are Mrs. Eva Waddell, Mrs. Pearle Short and Mrs. Pauline Vanaman of North Judson, Mrs. Ruby West of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mrs. Edith Rust of LaCrosse, Ind. Other survivors are 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother, Israel Johnson of Lafayette and two sisters, Mrs. Famie Curtis of Monticello and Mrs. Rosa Newland of Rolling Prairie, Ind. Friends may call at the McCormick Chapel beginning 10 o'clock Friday morning, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Frank Chrust. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
