Obit: Alice Arick 2/26/1954
Mrs Arick, 97 of Wooster, mother of Miss Ola Arick, died Friday morning in the Horn and McConnell Nursing Home where she had been cared for the past five years. She had been an invalid following an operation six years ago. She was born in Sugar Creek Twp. Dec. 27, 1856, a daughter of Christina Goudy and John Swisher. A fourth generation Wayne countian her great-grandfather James Goudy and his brother, John, entered a half section of land southeast of Dalton shortly after it was surveyed by the government in 1808. Her grandfathers and uncles were millers, erecting their little grist mills on the creeks of Paint and Sugar Creek townships. A pupil of Pleasant Valley district school one of her teachers was Henry B. Arick of Orrville. Later they were married and settled in Orrville. Eighteen months afterwards Mr. Arick was killed by a runaway horse. Mrs. Arick has always lived in Wayne county except for twelve years when she was a resident of Canton. Member of a family of nine children, her youngest brother Melvin Swisher, 87, of Akron survives her. She was a member of the Wooster Methodist church. Services will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. John Koontz, in the Pim funeral home Monday at 2:30 p.m. There will be no calling hours but relatives and friends are invited to the funeral. Burial will be beside her husband in Crown Hill cemetery in Orrville.

Alice applied for Guardianship of Ola because Henry left Ola $200.00 and Ola was only 6 years old.
Application was on Oct. 5, 1899. Bond was set at $400.00 on the same day. The letters of Guardianship were signed on Oct. 9, 1899.

Alice declined the task of administrator of Henry's estate and Franklin Swisher was appointed. The papers were filed Nov. 2, 1893 in Probate Court. Bond was set at $1400.00

Estate settled July 5, 1895.

She is listed as Alice Erick on the 1910 census.
