Anastasia Magdaline "Maggie" Kostrzewski, 76, of Stephen, MN, went to the Lord peacefully on Thursday morning, September 23, 2010 surrounded by her family at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.

Maggie Gerszewski was born May 5, 1934 in Fork Township, Marshall County, MN to Alexander and Stella (Paschke) Gerszewski. She was raised in the Argyle, MN area where she attended school and worked on the family farm. She also worked as a housekeeper for several families.

On June 25, 1958, she married John Kostrzewski. They raised their family on their farm near Florian, MN. Maggie was a devoted wife and mother. She helped with spring planting, fall harvest, raised a large garden, canned, and sewed to help provide for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, decorating for the holidays, and also was a Golden Member of Assumption Ladies Group.

In 2006, she moved to Warren, MN to be near John in the Good Samaritan Center. John died on February 19, 2009.

Left to mourn her passing are five children, Mary Sevigny of Grand Forks, ND, Veronica Kostrzewski of East Grand Forks, MN, Anthony Kostrzewski of Alvarado, MN, Linda (Daniel) Burkhart of Thompson, ND and Thomas (Michelle) Kostrzewski of Grand Forks, ND; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, William (Margaret) Gerszewski, Peter (Frances) Gerszewski, Anna Seeba, Frances Kazmierczak, Chester (Mary) Gerszewski, Thomas (Christine) Gerszewski, Loretta (Bob) Lechner, Gertrude (Paul) Biggs, and Steven Gerszewski; sisters-in-law, Selma Gerszewski and Margaret Gerszewski and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kostrzewski; an infant son; her parents; and brothers and sisters, Eleanor Smith, Alexander Gerszewski, Leo Gerszewski, Raymond Gerszewski and Joseph Gerszewski.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN.

VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:15 PM Rosary and 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Monday at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church.

INTERMENT: Assumption Cemetery, Florian, MN.
