Herman's father, Johann Ernst Schütte (b.1799 d.1873) was owner of the Schütte farm (Vollerbe) at Schleptrup 5, [in Engter parish]. Vollerbe means full heir of one of the oldest farms in that region of Germany. At first Johann Ernst married in 1823 to Anne Marie Margarethe Riedemann (b.1804 d.1836). They lived on the Schütte farm. After she died, Johann Ernst married in 1846 to Anne Marie Amalie Schteleben (b.1825 d.1864). At first they continued to live on the Schütte farm. In 1852 Johann Ernst gave the farm to his oldest son from his first marriage Hermann Heinrich Wilhelm Schütte (b.1826 d.1889). Johann Ernst born Schütte, Colon Riedemann, and 2nd wife moved to the Riedemann farm where Hermann Friedrich Schütte was born in 1855. He was baptized under the surname of Riedemann.
