A news article in the Windsor Gazette in 1942, stated that J. J. Storm was celebrating his 93rd birthday, June 12 and was Windsor's oldest citizen. Mrs. Emma Gaddis of Windsor was a daughter and also named were sons, M. W. Storm, John Storm and Silas Storm all of Mattoon; plus a daughter Mrs. R. E. Webb of Mattoon. A daughter, Mrs. W. L. An obituary published in the Daily Journal Gazette, Mattoon, Illinois on April 16, 1943 for John J. “Uncle Jack” Storm, states he had died at the home of daughter, Mrs. Emma Gaddis in Windsor. He was 93 years old. He was born in Ash Grove township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Storm. He married Elizabeth Renshaw, March 8, 1868. She died Aug. 6, 1927. Mr. Storm spent his entire life farming in Ash Grove township, retiring in 1919 and moving to Windsor.
He was survived by four sons, Morris W., John C., and Silas of Mattoon, and Dale R. of Rochester, N. Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Gaddis of Windsor, Mrs. W. L. Hamilton of Decatur and Mrs. R. E. Webb of Mattoon. He was also the father of the late Rev. W. H. Storm who had died in Lovington the previous year.
Mr. Storm held membership in the Ash Grove Christian Church longer than any member on record.
