"DANIEL DALRYMPLE

"Death of an Old and Highly Respected Resident of Southport.

"By the death of Daniel Dalrymple, who died last evening, the town of Southport loses one of its pioneers and foremost citizens, a man of frugal habits and sterling integrity. He was born at Afton, N.Y., June 11, 1819, and in
1841 removed to Southport where he has since resided. He was a man of large business enterprises, and for many years
was engaged actively in the lumber business in Potter county. Pa., having at one time eleven mills under his charge. From his earliest years he was self reliant, industrious and trustworthy; it was only natural with these traits of character united with business acumen, he should accumulated the large fortune which he has enjoyed for many years. Some years since he disposed of his lumber interests and devoted the last years of his life exclusively to agricultural pursuits. He was a man who in the quiet of his own home found his highest enjoyment and it is there that he will be most sorely missed. Three traits of character were fully exemplified in his life, the highest personal and business honor, great energy, and he had the rare faculty of non-interference in the affairs of others. A good and tender-hearted man has gone to his rest.
"A widow and two children, Charles Dalrymple, of Horseheads and Clara, the wife of Wisner J. Roy, survive him.
"The funeral will be held at his late residence Wednesday a t 2 o'clock, at which Dr. Ford, of the College will officiate."
