Accompanying Mr. Edelstein were his engineers, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Scott, all of whom snoke in hip"hfst. nraisp nf thf natural advantages and progress of Blacksburg and community. In this con nection Mr. Edelstein prophesied that even though a wall were built around it Blacksburg witnin fi'.e years would more than double its manufacturing enterprises in addition to what it has now, since the railroad rates are cheaper here than other nearby towns, the water supply is abundant and the advantage is had of two power transmission lines through the town, besides the living conditions here are most favorable and with plenty of cheap native labor. Contractors are installing the additional beacon gas light, of the bouy blinker type, on Whitaker mountain overlooking Blacksburg landing field. This light is intended as a safeguard to prevent airplanes from running j into the mountain in cloudy or foggy! ,0tr.0r th rt hff weather. This completes the last link of the Blacksburg landing field which is now ready for service, which it is said will begin April 1. v Miss Luella Sheppard, who has been visiting Mrs. McK. Miss Sheppard has been the inspiration of several social affairs given here this season. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Tilden Sheppard, . of Mankato, and is the niece of Mrs. Albergotti. Mr. Sheppard was born and reared near Blacksburg, having left here while a boy and remuining away for thirty years before his people heard of him. He is familiarly known as Tilden Sheppard, and has many friends in this section. Miss Sheppard is so well pleased with her newly discovered relatives and with the people and the place that she contemplates visiting here again next winter and hopes to innuence ner iatner ana mother to return to Blacksburg and make it their future home. She met and made a host of friends here who will miss her very much, and look forward with pleasure to her return.
