Funeral services were held Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford for Mrs. Albert (Alpha) Alfson, who died October 3 in a Grand Forks hospital. The Rev. Albert Tastad officiated at the funeral.
Alpha Thinglestad was born March 9, 1885, at Lanesboro, Minn. She moved to Griggs County with her parents, Jens and Lena Thinglestad, when she was three years old.
She moved to Cooperstown when her father became Griggs County sheriff. She was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church at Cooperstown. Following her father's term of office she moved to Jessie with her parents.
She was married to Albert Alfson in Jessie in 1903 and they lived on a homestead north of Jessie for a year. In 1904 they moved to Binford, where they operated a hardware store. Later they farmed near Binford and she lived in Binford until her death.
Mrs. Alfson was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Binford where she was organit for 30 years and directed the choir for many years.
Mr. Alfson preceded her in death. She leaves five children, Mrs. Evelyn Hopley and LeRoy C. Alfson, Binford; Mrs. Glen (Bernice) Broten, Walum; Hillard of Los Gatos, Calif., and Mrs. Russell (Elaine) Anderson, Pekin;
A sister, Mrs. Arne Granheim of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
