HEFLIN - Mrs. Mary Catherine Chastain, 71, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at New Hopewell Baptist with the Rev. John Brown, The Rev. Richard Collins, and The Rev. Chris Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends from 4-8 this evening at Dryden.
Pallbearers will be Mathew Teague, Nathan Benefield, Mark Truett, Bryant Heard, Steve Benefield and Tony Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be a great-grandson and nephews.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby (Donnie) Nolen, and Debbie (Michael) Teague, both of Heflin; two sons, Keith (Pat) Benefield, of Wedowee and Roy (Lindy) Benefield, of Temple, Ga.; three sisters, Nellie Benefield, of Muscadine, Rita Cofield, of Heflin and Joann Cook, of Bowdon, Ga.; two brothers, Floyd Robinson, of Heflin and Hollis Robinson, of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Chastain was a resident of Cleburne County for most of her life. She was a homemaker; an employee of Sewell Manufacturing Company in Bowdon, Georgia and a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dewy Benefield and Harold Chastain; her parents, John and Emma Robinson; four brothers and one sister.
