The Rev. Hershel Houk, 67, of Fayetteville died last Wednesday in Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville following a heart attack.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Carey Johnson officiating and burial in the Charity Cemetery in Madison Co., Ala.

The Rev. Houk, a native of Jackson Co, Ala., was the son of the late William Curtis and Alice Allen Houk. He was the pastor of the Crystal Springs Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Philips Houk; one son, Thomas Houk of Fayetteville; three daughters, Carol Burchett of Huntsville, Judy Shannon of Fayetteville, and Cindy Hill of Hazel Green; his step-father, Earl Gipson of Rockwood; four step-sisters, Flossie Pell, Helen Eslinger, Edith Moring all of Huntsville and Mattie Bell Bathman of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
