Laura Odell is the daughter of Jeremiah M. Odell (1769-1845) and Persis Glazier (1771-1833). She was born September 8, 1809 in Manchester, Bennington, VT. She and husband Thomas J. Paddock, son of Foster Paddock, Jr. and Chole Raymond, migrated to Ohio and for a time lived at Newbury, Geauga, OH before moving on to LaCrosse, WI in 1851, they being the first white settlers there at that time. They finally settled in Ripley, Dodge, MN.
She is the mother of Lauren Austin Paddock (1837-1900) who married Olive Barrett, then Loretta Norton; Elbridge Gerry Paddock (1839-1920) who married Martha Barrett, then Anna Hobine, then Katie Mitchell; Myron Paddock (1841-?); Helen Paddock (1843-1921) who married James Corruthers, then Mr. McNanney, then Lemon H. Tarble; and Louisa M. Paddock (1848-1911), who married Timothy Lynch. It is believed that she was also the mother of four sons who were lost in a house fire in Newbury, Geauga, OH on December 31, 1838.
Laura was the sister of Martha Odell Sperry, Mary/Polly Odell Barrett, William Odell, Ezekiel Odell, David Odell, Jeremiah Odell, Jr., and Jacob Odell.
