W. Carlos Burnsed, 82, died late Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. The Bulloch County native lived in Bryan County most of his life and was a retired right of way inspector with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a former Bryan County commissioner, having served 12 years; a member and senior deacon of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church near Stilson; and had served as lieutenant colonel on the governor's staff for five Georgia governors.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alberta Shuman Burnsed, Ellabell; two daughters, Mrs. Emogene B. Bacon, Pembroke and Mrs. Charlotte B. Bell, Ellabell; a son, Rodney N. Burnsed, Statesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Florence B. Shuman, Ellabell, and Mrs. Alverene B. Shuman, Stilson; a brother, H. C. Burnsed, Nevils; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Elder Spencer Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hodges-Turner Funeral Home.
