DEATH OF E. A. ESSHOM
E. A. Esshom, son of J. C. and Mary Ann Esshom, was born near Greencastle, Indiana, on Dec. 7th, 1861 and departed this life on Jan. 24th, 1929, at his home near Chariton, Iowa, after an illness of several months duration. Thus another one of our number has passed on to the Beyond from whence none return.
When three years of age he came with his parents to Iowa and settled near Marysville, where he grew to manhood. On November 10th, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Addie Bailey. To this union was born one daughter, who died in infancy in April, 1888. Mrs. Esshom departed this life on April 21, 1888.
Mr. Esshom was united in marriage to Miss Retta Adcock, of Melrose, in 1893. They moved to a farm near Melrose in the winter of 1894. He was converted at his home while reading the Bible and he then united with the Wayne United Brethren church, later uniting with the church in Chariton where he held his membership until his Lord and Master called him to the church triumphant above.
Mr. Esshom was an honest, upright citizen, a good neighbor and brother. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, one half brother and other relatives. His father, mother, four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. G. J. Cornford, were held at the U. B. church in Chariton on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.
