Burton Leroy Boyer, dear husband, father and grandpa, was born February 11, 1924 in Ellsinore, Missouri and departed this life August 31, 2010 at his residence in Hunter, Missouri with his family by his side. He had attained the age of eighty-six years, six months and twenty days. Mr. Boyer was a lifetime resident of Hunter and in his youth attended the White's Mill School. In May of 1963 he accepted Christ as his personal savior. He was a member of the Good Hope Church. He was a self-employed timber worker and retired after thirty years as school bus driver for the East Carter County Schools. He loved his job as school bus driver, loved the kids and enjoyed handing out tootsie rolls to them. He loved God and the beauty of nature He created. He enjoyed farm life, working in the timber and the challenge of fixing things. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. On March 1, 1944 he was united in marriage to Edith Ellen Farmer in Ellsinore with Justice of Peace, Oscar Hilterbrand, performing the ceremony. Edith preceded him in death on June 20, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Ervin Boyer and Delia Pearl (Norman) Boyer; one daughter, Barbara Dean Swafford; one brother, Acie Lemaul Boyer and one grandson, Joshua Amsden. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Louise Dameron of Hunter, Phyllis Ann Amsden and husband, Mike of Hunter, and Marilyn Kaye Joplin and husband, Pete of Ellsinore; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Clyde Franklyn Boyer of Caseyville, Ill.; one sister, Virginia May Douglas of Salem, and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
