Mrs. George (Sibylle) Mitchell died on Saturday, October 25, 1980, the day after her ninetieth birthday in a Madison hospital after a short Illness. She was born in Council Bluff, IA, and lived most of her life in the Sun Prairie area. The former Sibylle Burgess married George T. Mitchell on November 18, 1914. She was a member of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star Twilight Chapter No. 165 serving as the Chapter secretary for nineteen years. She was a member and past president of the Twentieth Century Club. She was a member of the D.A.R., of the Sun Prairie Historical Library and Museum, of the Sun Prairie Cemetery Association, and of Business and Professional Women's Club where she was honored as Woman of the Year in 1967. She was on the radio for twenty years as a member of "We Say What We Think Club". She also served on the Piercevllle and Sun Prairie Joint District No. 2 School Boards. Survivors are two sons, Redfleld of Cottage Grove and James R. of Madison; thirteen grandchildren; a sister, Helen Crutcher of Loulsevllle, KY; two nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. in 1973; an infant daughter; a sister, Marion; and a grandson, Pat. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 10 a.m. at the Tuschen Funeral Home in Sun Prairie. Burial will be in Sun Prairie City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Twilight Chapter of the Eastern Star or to the American Heart Association.
