Who was Jeanette Chambers?

When we try to describe ourselves, we have to go to the people in our lives, the people we have touched. Through their eyes, we see who we are.

So who was Jeanette?

She was the loving daughter of Sigurd and Grace Bye, born August 5, 1922. She was the beloved and cherished sister of four brothers and three sisters. Through her parents and siblings, she learned the true meaning of family and of the love that binds us together forever.

She was a faithful servant of God. Baptized and confirmed at United Lutheran church, she devoted much of her time to Ladies' Aid, Circle and Bible study, and was a wedding coordinator for those couples getting married here at United.

She was a regular visitor at Valley Memorial Home, where the kindness and warmth of her smile were ever-present. It was her faith that held her up during the trials in her life.

Did I tell you she was Norwegian'! And a good Norske, too!
Yes, she ate lefse and even lutefisk. There are many pictures of her in full Norwegian costume.
.
She was a loyal friend. She was always there to listen and never to judge. She enjoyed her Bridge and Whist clubs, and will be remembered by all who knew her for her infectious laughter.
She was the wonderful wife to her husband, Bud, for 63 years. We all said she was his best audience -laughing every time at his numerous jokes and stories (no matter how many times she heard them!). She made their house a home. She was an immaculate housekeeper (she dusted every day!). And what a baker she was! Her homemade pies, candy and desserts couldn't be beat. When you visited Jeanette, you were guaranteed coffee and a delectable treat.

Last, but not least, she was a mother to her three children. We couldn't have asked for a better mom. Growing up, we tested her and caused her worry, as children will do. But never once did we doubt her love for us. When we needed her, she was there.

She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren and great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She was the picture perfect grandma. Always cheerful, ready to listen, and 100 percent huggable.

I'm sure there are those of you who have your own memories and words to describe Jeanette. We would love to hear them. As her children, we will greatly miss our mom. The love, comfort and support she gave us in her life will never be forgotten and we will strive to carry out here goodness in ourselves as her legacy. We love you, Mom
