He was a dedicated member of St. Stainslaus Church and a volunteer firefighter with Pulaski Fire Company, both Pine Island. He died at St. Anthony Community Hospital, Warwick, New York. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Stanislaus Church; mortuary: T.S. Purta Funeral Home, Pine Island.

Late siblings: Edward Akacki. Although alive at the time of his death, sister Helen Akacki (Glowaczewski) died in 2004.
