Capt. Spillers was a steamboat master and pilot in the 1880's and early 1900's. I don't find that he was ever married. He was the brother of Fountain E. Spillers, also a steamboat pilot, who married Mary Nance.

Although his headstone reads that he passed in May of 1904, he actually died on April 22, 1904.
