He was a member of Iron workers Local 678 since 1945, a charter member of the Calcasieu Retriever Club and a avid sportsman who loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty E. Johnson, sons; Ward Johnson and Rodney Johnson and wife Allyson, daughter Linda Hicks and husband Jack, six grandchildren; Michael Johnson, Steve Johnson, Cherie Doran, Travis Johnson, Brandi Corley and husband Josh and Cameron Hicks. He is also survived by his 8 great-grandchildren, a sister in law Myrna Fleming and husband Charles also a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, brothers; Emmet, Earl, Harold and Gerald Johnson. Sisters; Ruby Hudson, Billie Rhodes, Pat Wazny and twins Hazel and Helen Johnson.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Monday September 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery on Westlake.
