Wayne Ellsworth Grisel, 75, Lakeview, died Jan. 12, 2000, of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 395 about two miles south of Lakeview.

He was born April 13, 1924 in Lakeview to Willis and Bessie (Loftus)Grisel. As a child he lived in Adel, where he begn his education, later moving to Lakeview and completing his education there. He served in the Army during World War II, seeing action in the European Theater.

He married Persis Branch on June 12, 1948, in Lakeview. They lived in various places while he was employed as a truck driver, finally settling in Lakeview in 1990. Mr. Grisel was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved to play pool.

Survivors include his wife, Persis Grisel of Lakeview; sons, William Grisel of Salem, Dean and Carl Grisel of Lakeview and Albert Grisel of Vacaville, CA; daughter, Gwen Grisel of Lakeview; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, James and Earl Grisel, and brothers, Cole and Dean Grisel.
