Helen Annette Abrams Chasteen, 78, of 104 Walker Road, wife of Reverend Rudolph H. Chasteen, died September 10, 2010.
Born in Laurens County, June 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Thomas G. and Grace Truman Simmons Abrams. A graduate of North Greenville College and Lander College, Mrs. Chasteen received her Master's degree in education from Clemson University. She taught for thirty-two years throughout Anderson, Greenville, Oconee and Greenwood counties.
Mrs. Chasteen was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ware Shoals. Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Cheryl (Bobby) Carlton, Renee (Pat) Cobb and Lynnette (Jerry) Humphrey; five grandchildren two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Mattison. Services will be Monday at 11AM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3-5 PM.
