Ware Shoals – Dorothy Elizabeth Bryant Mattison, 92, of 5121 Poplar Springs Road, gained her heavenly wings on Monday, June 27, 2016.

Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Grace Simmons Abrams. She was the last surviving member of eight children and was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was retired from the Laurens Shirt Company. She was twice married, first to Thomas L. Bryant and then to Fred W. Mattison.

Surviving are her four children and spouses, Tommy Bryant and wife Grace of Ware Shoals, Charles Bryant and wife Patricia of Bluffton, Barbara Crawford and husband Jerry of Ware Shoals, and Susan Bryant Prather and husband Tony of Laurens, Three grandsons, Chris Crawford and wife Michelle, Lee Crawford and wife Robyn, and Scott Bryant and wife Tasha, two step-grandchildren, Jason and Tabatha Jones, eleven great grandchildren and two very special care-givers, Keisha Burton and Frances Patton. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Ostrom and Rev. Dwight Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Box 124, Ware Shoals, SC 29692 or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 100 Plaza Circle Suite B, Clinton, SC 29325.
