Mrs. Overholt, wife of Dr. D. W. Overholt, died very suddenly on Sunday morning
at 7 o'clock at her home in Columbus Junction. The cause of her death was
supposed to be heart failure. She was a daughter of Judge Samuel Latta, and was
born at Grandview in this county March 9, 1843. She leaves five children, Dr.
J. L., of Columbus Junction; Mrs. Rowie B. Latta of Paton, Iowa; Samuel M. of
Muscatine; Mrs. Nellie Daniels of Columbus City; and Roscoe of Chicago. These
and her husband are left to mourn her departure. She also leaves one brother,
Edward Latta of Grandview, and two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Hank and Mrs. Anna Hank,
who live in the west. The funeral services were held at the home near Columbus
City, at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, April 18, Rev. Arthur Long of Burlington
conducting the services, and the interment occurred at Columbus City cemetery.
