Injuries Fatal to William Lubben
19-year-old local youth succumbs as result of auto accident on highway 54
William Lubben, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lubben, 541 Grant Street, died at Riverview Hospital at 3 a.m. Sunday from injuries and complications following an automobile mishap last Friday afternoon.
The youth, driving a car belonging to his brother John and with his father as a passenger, sustained fatal injuries when the car hurtled out of control on Highway 54 east of the city in Portage County near the Wood-Portage line. The father is recovering from injuries he suffered in the accident.
The Lubben car went out of control in rounding a curve in the highway the youthful driver was unable to control the machine which swerved along the concrete for several hundred feet before upending and turning over several times.
Pneumonia combined with a chest injury, a brain concussion and possible internal injuries to cause death. It is the sixth highway death in Portage County this year.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 0'clock at the Krohn and Berard chapel with the Rev. F. W. Hyslop officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
He was born in this city on August 23, 1919 and attended the local public and high schools. Surviving relatives include his parents, grandparents Mrs. John Lubben of Oakland California and Fred Bossert of this city, three brothers, John, Wendall and Paul and three sisters, Maureen, Janet and Margaret, all at home.
Friends may pay their respects at Krohn and Berard's funeral home where the body will remain until services.
