Joyce E. (Ascher) Mayer, 53, of Fort Myers, and formerly of Longmeadow, Mass., died on Friday at Gulf Coast Hospital. Born and schooled in Springfield, Mass., she was a graduate of the former Classical High School. She also was a graduate of Leslie College. She lived in Longmeadow from 1969 until moving here in 1991. She was a life member of Hadassah and the Organization for Rehabilitation through Training. She leaves her husband, Ira Mayer; a son, David of Chicago; a daughter, Audrey Mayer of Boston, Mass.; her mother, Helen Ascher of Medway, Mass., and a sister, Hanna Levey of Framingham, Mass. A graveside service is scheduled for noon on Sunday at City of Homes Cemetery in Springfield, and Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 53 Capital Drive, West Springfield, 01089.
