John H. Etter, thirty-one, 720 High St., died at 5:30 a.m. yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital of cerebrospinal meningitis after an illness of five days. He was born in this city, a son of Phillip and Jane Brooks Etter, and was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Mr. Etter was employed by the Armstrong Cork Company for the past four months. Prior to that time he was employed by the General Cigar Company. Besides his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Miss Helen E., Glen Ridge, NJ; Miss Irene M., at home; Florence L., wife of Earl O. Gager; Phillip Jr.; Ruth E., wife of Arthur H. Wendel; Walter E., and Katherine M., wife of John H. Kiehl, all of this city; and Charles E., U.S. Army. (Lancaster New Era - Jan 11, 1943)
