Funeral services for Paul Joseph Beavin will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Queen of all Saints Catholic Church, Sayre, with the Rev. James Griener officiating. Mr. Beavin died May 6, 1988 in the Roger Mills County Hospital in Cheyenne. He was 92.
Interment, under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne, will follow services and will be at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
Paul Joseph Beavin was born January 14, 1896 to Frank A. and Maggie A. Beavin in Cloverport, KY.
His family moved to the Oklahoma Territory in 1902 and he grew up on the family homestead near Roll. He served in U.S. Cavalry during World War I. He worked in New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma before returning to Roger Mills County in 1931.
On May 25, 1933 he married Elizabeth Flemming in Elk City. They lived in Cheyenne where they were in business until retiring in 1986.
Mr. Beavin was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and an active supporter and member of the American Legion in Roger Mills County for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Phil Johnson of Yukon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Austin and Mary of Topeka, Kans., Jerry and Marty of Nicoma Park, and Pudge and Joyce of Cheyenne; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
