BELFORD
Passed away in the city on Saturday, May 4th, 1985, MR. VERNE FRENCH BELFORD at the age of 87 years,beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Belford of 1108 7th Avenue South. Born in Carroll, Nebraska, the late Mr. Belford came to Canada to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1912. Verne was married to the former Rosa (Rose) Poncelet in Moose Jaw in 1924 and later joined Willard's Chocolates Ltd. and was transferred to Lethbridge in 1938. He retired from Willard's Chocolates in 1968 and managed the Lethbridge Curling Club until 1973. Verne has
continued to reside in Lethbridge until his passing. He was a member of the Lethbridge Downtown Kiwanis Club. Besides his loving wife , Rose, he is survived by one daughter, Rae Firth of Calgary; one brother Dale Belford of Portland, Oregon; and three grandsons, Timothy Firth of Edmonton, Randall Firth of Lethbridge and Patrick Firth of Calgary.
A Private Family Service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6th, 1985 in St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church with Father Michael Ebsworth officiating. Cremation followed. No flowers by request. Those who wish may donate to the Salvation Army, 1302 4th Ave. South; or to the charity of your choice.
