Married Henry Amidon 17 February 1839 in Porter Twp., Cass Co., Michigan. In 1850 the family were living in Dubuque Co., Iowa. Henry apparently was struck by gold fever and was recorded in El Dorado Co., California in 1852. It is said he died shortly after.
When Maria died in 1859 her 2 younger children were taken in by her siblings. Mary lived with her uncle Samuel Rickert, and Sophronia with her aunt Catherine (Rickert) Dreibelbis.
