Death came to Mrs. Martha Stites Cannon at her home here at 2:20 a. m. Saturday, just 12 days before her 88th birthday anniversary.
Born in Ridgefarm May 14, 1885, she had spent most of her life in Homer with the exception of four years at Hume.
Surviving are two sons, William Cannon of Daville and Frank Cannon of Sidney, and one daughter, Zora Patten of Homer. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cannon, and one daughter.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at Morehouse Funeral Home with burial in GAR Cemetery at Homer.

Mrs. Martha Ann Cannon, 87, year-old Homer resident, died at 2:30 a. m. Sunday after a long illness. She had been bedfast six weeks and death was attributed to complications.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at the Morehouse funeral home with Rev. B. M. Petty of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in G. A. R. cemetery, with the nephews as pallbearers.
Mrs. Cannon was born Martha Ann Stites on May 14, 1865, at Ridge Farm, daughter of Samuel and Mary Stites. The family moved to Homer when she was five years old and she spent the rest of her life in this vicinity except for four years in Palermo.
She married John Cannon on May 10, 1886, and they lived on a farm near here until his death in 1918. Then she moved to the village and lately has been living with her daughter, Mrs. Zora Patten.
Three sons also survive: Frank, Sidney, William, Danville, and Andy, Pottsville, Pa.; ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. A daughter, Irma, died in 1915.
