Homer, Ill., Feb. 1.—Miss Irma Cannon, 18 years of age, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cannon, residing on the Duke's farm, east of this place, passed away at St. Elizabeth hospital in Danville, about 2 o'clock this afternoon, following a brief illness with appendicitis. Her death followed an operation for appendicitis which was resorted to in the hope of saving her life. Last Tuesday the deceased was taken ill, and although the symptoms did not manifest themselves at once appendicitis developed. Sunday afternoon the girl was removed at St. Elizabeth hospital, where the operation was performed.
Funeral services will be held form the family residence at 11 o'clock, Wednesday morning, and interment will be made in the local G. A. R. cemetery. It is thought that Rev. J. B. Edgar, of Chicago, will officiate at the service.
Miss Cannon was born in this vicinity July 31, 1897, and has lived near here throughout her entire life. She was well known and popular, and the news of her death comes as a sad shock to her many friends. Surviving are the parents, a sister, Mrs. William Patton, and three brothers, Frank, residing here, and William and Andrew, of Danville.
