Robert Norman was a veteran of the War of 1812.

Her maternal grandparents were John M. Gibson, (1804 - ?), born in NC and Martha Harper 1808 - ?, born in TN. In the 1850 census for Bedford Co., TN, John M Gibson and wife Martha Harper were living next to William Allen Norman and his wife Mary Ann Gibson! In the late 1850s the John M. an Martha Gibson moved to Greene Co., Mo and appeared there in the 1860 and 1870 census for Wilson Twp, Greene Co., Missouri.
