Chaplain { Lieutenant Colonel } James B. Ronan, was born in East Boston, MA the son of William and Ann Joy Ronan. The family moved to Medford, MA in the 1920s.
He attended Medford Public Schools, served in The Civilian Conservation Corps and attended Boston College.
He entered Saint Johns Seminary in 1941 and was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in 1946.
In 1953, he entered the Active Army, serving for twenty years in Europe, Korea and Viet Nam.
Chaplain Ronan retired in 1973 and entered a monastic order in Italy.
