George W. Baese, former Vernal businessman, died February 11, in Arlington, CA of a heart attack while going home from work, it was learned here Tuesday.

Upon hearing of his father's death, Elbert Baese left Vernal for Salt Lake City where he was to meet a brother, Walter. The two were planning to travel to Arlington by auto if roads were passable.

Mr. Baese with his family came to Vernal in 1917 from Colorado. He operated the Vernal Lumber Yards for a number of years. Selling his holdings here 12 years ago because of ill health, he moved to Salt Lake City where he lived for a few years. He then moved to California.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leona Baese, a native of St. Louis, MO; four sons, George Baese JR, a native of St. Louis, MO.
