Helen Marcia Turner passed away at Memorial Hospital in Douglas April 12, 1977 following a short confinement. She had been a resident of Douglas for 48 years. Helen Stearns Turner was born June 28, 1894 at Audubon, Iowa, where she was raised and educated. Following her marriage to Earl Turner, Feb. 7, 1917, the young couple continued to reside in Audubon until moving to Douglas in 1929. Mrs. Turner is survived by two sons, who reside in Douglas: Henry (Bud) Turner, and Gordon Turner, with whom she made her home; three daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Drennen, Mrs. John (Virginia) Nida, and Mrs. Rhea (Bette) Tillard, all of Douglas; and one brother, Russell Stearns of Audubon, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in May 1958 and also by her second oldest son, Floyd, a Navy pilot lost in action in 1945.
