Mary Ann Godfrey daughter of Rebecca Bailey & William Hinds Godfrey of England.

1st Spouse:
Married Dr. Joseph Geogre De Friez of London, England on October 19, 1842 in London, England.
They had ten children together.

Mary Ann left her husband, Joseph, in England. Her children Joseph George De Friez & Mary Ann De Friez Smith were the only two remaining children who stayed in England. Their children Arthur, Alexander & Herbert died in England before she came to America.

Mary Ann, Josiah Godfrey(who died at sea) and Frances Godfrey De Friez took passage on the ship S.S. Wyoming, July 25th, 1877. Then to Salt Lake City by rail. From there they went directly to St. George, Utah, where her son Charles De Friez (later in his life Charles De Friez Jarvis) was residing. Frances married Samuel Walter Jarvis December 4, 1877 and Charle Godfrey De Friez married Margaret Jarvis March 1, 1878. A short time later Mary married George Baker.


She remained faithful to her testimony to her dying day, June 22nd, 1902, though it cost her loss of husband, home, and loved ones, wealth, position, and all the comforts of life.
