Son of James Lewis Nicholson & Ellen Hines; William married Margaret Parker Askins, the daughter of Dr. Erasmus Dowell Askins and Susan Elizabeth Moore and widow of Frank William Parfitt (1866-1905). This was the 1st and only marriage for William S. Nicholson. His wife, Margaret Askins is buried in Cave Hill Cemetery next to her first husband, Frank William Parfitt.
