Died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 1983, at EST Ascension General Hospital, Gonzales. She was 85, a native of Lake and a resident of Prairieville. She was a housewife. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales. Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Mack Strange. Burial in Lake Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, Mrs. O'Neal ( Elaine) Melancon, Gramercy, Mrs. Vincent ( Lillie ) Noto, Lake, and Mrs. James ( Bonnie ) Way, Port Vincent; two sons, George W. Roddy Jr., Gonzales, and Morris Glenn Roddy, Baton Rouge; a sister, Mrs. Gerturde Mayers Jarreau, Walker; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and two step great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, George W. Roddy Sr.; Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Celestine Mayers: two brothers, Lee H. and Albert Mayers; numerous half- brothers and half- sisters; granddaughter, Olinda Roddy; and a great-grandson, Conley Joseph Roddy. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
