Ada Coffey Mashburn, 84 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in Asheville. She was born in Buncombe County on June 3, 1923 to Posey Gerome Coffey and Mary Briggs Coffey. Ada was married to Emerson Earl �Friday� Mashburn, who passed away on March 26, 2001. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Monroe, Albert, James and Frank Coffey and by sisters Clara Allman, Lorene Robinson, Lillie Edwards, Gertrude Shelton, Bertie Coffey, Viola Buchanan Shelton and Pearl Edwards Messer.

Ada was a charter member of East Waynesville Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunbeam leader, as a nursery worker and as a teacher in VBS, Sunday School and Training Union. Ada had been a member of the Haywood Chapter of the Gideon Auxiliary.

Ada is survived by her son E. J. Mashburn (wife Bonnie) and her daughter Margaret Burnette (husband Marvin), all of Waynesville. She is survived by her granddaughter Emily Clark (husband Lewis) and her grandson Jay Mashburn (wife Rebecca). Her great-grandchildren are Alex and Avery Mashburn and Harper Clark. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Jake Webb (wife Leeann), Ginger Thayer (husband James), step-great-grandchildren Ricky Lee, Tiffany Lee, Ashley Woods (husband Joey) and great great granddaughter Mackenzie Woods. She is also survived by brothers, Carroll, Anderson, Floyd, and Leonard Coffey and by sisters Evelyn Hatton, Esther Bailey and Meredith Wilburn, sister-in-law Christine Coffey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 25th at East Waynesville Baptist Church with the Reverend Josh Walls and Reverend Jim Brackett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Garrett Funerals and Cremations.

Burial will be in Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be her nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Waynesville Baptist Church, 175 Woodland Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786 or to Gideon�s International, c/o Dan Messer, 186 Clark Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
